What you need to make a Superhero / Nature Fathers Day Card & Bunting set:
- Four A4 sheets of recycled card (or card)
- Our Free Superhero Shapes & Fathers Day Phrases Printables – (printed on two of the four sheets)
- Scissors, Hole punch, Glue stick
- Cord or Ribbon
- Flowers, sequins, pompoms ect. (optional)
How to make a Superhero Fathers Day card
Print out the two printables on card – and cut out the shapes and phrases.
Fold a plain A4 piece of card in half, and decorate the front. Remember to keep back some shapes and phrases for the bunting, if you’re making that too.
For the POP-UP element, cut a 40cm piece of string or ribbon, and stick your chosen shapes & phrases to it. Important: Only decorate the middle 16-18 cm of the string.
Tape your shapes to the string by applying cellotape to the back of the shapes.
Punch a hole in each top corner of your card. Tie the string to the holes. Important: Make sure the string is the right length (approx 20cm) so you can open the card – but not fully – thus creating a pop-up effect!
TOP TIP: We didn’t do this, but – in hindsight – it’s probably A LOT easier to write in the card at this stage, while the string has not been tied onto both corners..
Fasten both ends securely, then trim off the excess string
And Voila! – your new homemade fathers day card is ready!
..complete with homemade POP-UP function..and cute phrases to make dad’s day!

How to make Superhero / Nature fathers day bunting!
Divide an A4 card into 6 pieces – by dividing the short side into two parts and the long side into three parts (see picture above) Cut out the six pieces.
To make the pointy bunting shapes: mark the centre of the panels at one end – then mark 2cm up each side, draw a line and cut (see picture above) I cut three at a time. You can also omit this step – or cut the bunting any other shape you want!
Punch holes in the bunting flags for threading
Cut out the shapes you want to decorate your bunting with, and arrange them on your bunting flags.
Use a glue stick to attach them to the bunting. You can also add pompoms, sequins, beads, foliage, flowers, feathers – or anything else you can think of.
Thread your bunting onto your cord or ribbon – I used a long shoelace – which was ideal – but nearly anything will work!
And wehey! – your brand new fathers day bunting is ready to hang!
Or make a Nature Bunting Garland..
If you would like to make a nature bunting garland, firstly collect some flowers and foliage. Secondly punch a hole in the lower point of the bunting flags – and pop your stems through. Thirdly attach the stems to the back of the bunting flag with cellotape. Your foliage should now be securely attached to the bunting.
Add sparkle and interest with sequins! – alternatively use pompoms, buttons, gemstones, stickers, beads or anything else that inspires you!
And Voila! – your homemade fathers day nature bunting is ready to hang!
